Why a Bilingual Education?
Aside from the fact that Canada is a Bilingual country and we believe that all students should learn French, a bilingual education has proven to supercharge children’s learning and change the structure of the human brain.

According to Yang (2017), bilingualism is associated with improved memory. It is noted that "the main reason suggested for bilinguals' advantage is their need to process and manage the two languages, which are simultaneously activated whenever one of the languages is used." The following memory-boosting physical changes to the human brain can be seen in those processing multiple languages simultaneously:
-
Improved overall brain function and health
-
Increased gray matter volume and density
-
Improved executive function
-
Strengthened connections between neurons

According to Johnstone (2002), “the big advantage in starting early is that one can tap into children’s intuitive capacities for second language acquisition”. He also states that “young children are far less inhibited and far more open and receptive (to learning); they seem to soak their foreign language up”. Contrary to popular belief, young children are not confused by the introduction of multiple languages at the same time. They naturally navigate multilingual environments and transfer their language skills.
