Kristy

Bonjour! My name is Kristy. I am an elementary French teacher, but I got my start teaching high school level French. I graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2011 in French as A Second Language Teaching, Minor in English. I lived in Melbourne, Australia, for two years, where I supply taught in elementary classes while I got to live and travel in a new country. I still love to travel to this day.  In recent years I have mostly been teaching grades 4-8 French, including visual arts, drama, P.E., social studies, and science. Visual art is my favourite. I myself am a product of the French Immersion program, so I try to share with my students that learning another language can be hard, but we learn through making mistakes, trying, and working together. I like to make language work fun, by playing mini games or turning learning into challenges. I used to run a Harry Potter system in my classroom, and we used to learn through themed games on Fridays. I tutored elementary students for a few years in Ottawa and enjoy working one-on-one. Knowing a student's interests is a great way to make work more enjoyable! 

 

In my spare time, I like boxing, baking for my partner and loved ones, and am a voracious reader. I look forward to working with you soon.
